The Gaboon Adder was under threat in South Africa until a concerned herpetologist decided to step in and help the species.

The Gaboon Adder is an extremely venomous snake in the north-eastern corner of South Africa. Unfortunately its habitat was being destroyed. Herpetologist Toy Bodbijl initiated a project to move as many specimens as possible to a safer area 100 kilometres further south.
